With 157 votes, Kolade Akinjo, a former member of the House of Representatives, came in second.
There were seven candidates running for the position, and 621 delegates were recognized.
Agboola was forced to join the PDP when attempts to impeach him were foiled in the run-up to the 2020 governorship race.
However, after Eyitayo Jegede won the PDP ticket, he ran for office in 2020 under the banner of the Zenith Labour Party. He received 69,127 votes, good for third place in the poll.
In the November election, he will now take on the current governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, a former deputy of Akeredolu.
Aiyedatiwa had previously surfaced as the All Progressives Congress’s candidate for governor.
