Anambra authorizes ₦489 million for state airport night landing apparatus.

After new landing facilities were installed at the state-owned airport, the Anambra State administration declared that Chinua Achebe International Airport will soon be able to handle aircraft at night.

The project for the installation of the facilities was authorized during the 34th Anambra State Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, according to a statement released by the state commissioner for information, Dr. Law Mefor.

When the facilities are put in place, Mefor said, airplanes will be able to land at the airport at night.

“The installation of airfield lighting at Chinua Achebe International Airport is one of the measures that the Anambra State Executive Council has adopted,” he said. This will make landings at night easier. Mercy Aviation Communication Electronics and Industries Nig Ltd has been given the contract for the airfield lighting project

he project had a two-week completion timeline and was awarded ₦489,716,250.”

The commissioner also mentioned other projects that the council had approved, including as a ₦125,807,290.63 contract with Red Clay Consulting to create a master plan for Anambra’s tourist attractions and heritage places that is both responsive and profitable.

He said that among other things, Triseconds Resources Ltd. was given ₦112,700,000.00 to rebuild the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital gate, with completion anticipated in two months.

He said that in order to address insecurity and create a safer environment for all state residents, the executive council also adopted both kinetic and non-kinetic tactics.
